Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 170°C (340°F).

  • Grease and line an 18–20 cm round cake pan with parchment paper.
This helps the cake bake evenly and prevents sticking.

2. Cream the Butter & Sugar

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar using an electric mixer.

  • Continue mixing for 3–5 minutes until the mixture becomes pale, light, and fluffy.
This step creates the cake’s soft texture.

3. Add the Eggs

  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

  • This prevents the batter from curdling and keeps it smooth.

  • Mix in the vanilla extract.

4. Mix the Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, powdered milk, and baking powder.

  • This ensures the dry ingredients blend evenly into the batter.

5. Combine Wet & Dry Mixtures

  • Add half of the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Mix gently.

  • Pour in the milk and mix again until combined.

  • Add the remaining dry ingredients and fold until everything is just incorporated.
Do not overmix, or the cake may become dense.

6. Bake

  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread the surface evenly.

  • Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until:

    • the top is golden

    • a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean

Every oven is slightly different, so start checking at 40 minutes.

7. Cool & Serve

  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack.

  • Allow it to cool completely before slicing to avoid crumbling.

Enjoy your super soft, moist, and buttery cake with tea, coffee, or as a dessert after a meal!
